ARSENAL OPEN TO SELLING RAMSEY

Arsenal FC are reportedly open to selling star player Aaron Ramsey if the Welshmanrefuses to renew his contract with the club this summer. The Gunners are hoping to tie down one of their best players before the next season. Having been held hostage in the contract saga of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, the club wants to kill off any possibility of a repeat.

Ramsey’s contract is set to lapse in 2019 so the north London is looking to extend his deal. With the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea linked to the player, a new deal will effectively kill of such talks.

According to reports, if Ramsey refuses to sign an extension, then the club would look at cashing in on a good deal before the end of the transfer window. After the much sought after Sanchez refused to extend Arsenal were forced to get Henrikh Mkhitaryan in return even when they could have gotten more from the deal. Ozil held out, with the danger of him walking for free, Arsenal agreed to a club record wage deal for the German.
If Ramsey were to exit the Emirates now, the club could still get up to £40 million despite him having just a year in his deal. The Welshman could be forced to extend, with a possible £100k per week in wages – a wage packet that went up with the deal for Ozil and Mkhitaryan.
Arsenal are not as keen though to offer Ramsey such wages in light of their increasing wage bill which is already one of the highest in the league. However, cashing on the player, and getting a replacement would have several implications for a club looking at rebuilding.
The club could join in the race for Jonny Evans, who is set to change clubs following the relegation of West Brom from the top flight. Laurent Koscielny is injured and there are rumours Skhodran Mustafi could exit the team. Busy times at Arsenal!
