FERDINAND FIRES ODEGAARD’S TRANSFER WARNING TO ARSENAL

Arsenal are edging closer and closer to the signing of young midfielder Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid and fans are already gushing over the possibility of watching the talented midfield star don the Arsenal shirt for at least the rest of the season. While most of the fans are carried away by the fact that the Gunners are making an addition to the team, the rest of the supporters have considered the words uttered by BT Sport pundit Rio Ferdinand about what may go wrong.

The former Manchester United defender has raised an alarm that the imminent arrival of the Norwegian midfielder could affect the growth of Arsenal’s young players in the squad. Some of the club’s youngsters including the likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka are currently with the first team and have flourished excellently well so far heading into the second half of the season.

Saka particularly continued his fine form as he scored one of Arsenal’s three goals against Southampton on Tuesday night to help the Gunners seal a comeback victory away from home.

Madrid have reportedly given Odegaard, 23, the green light to join Arsenal and the Norwegian is reportedly already in London as he Nears the final stages of the formalities involved in the transfer.

Although Ferdinand believes Odegaard is a great player and will bring some more dynamism to the Arsenal team, he still warned manager Mikel Arteta to be very careful, so he won’t spark disharmony in the group.

When asked about the transfer, Ferdinand said it is a great move to sign young, talented players as it not only provides competition for places but grooms the young players for the future. He then added that the club should be cautious so as not to invite unrest amongst players.
