WELBECK SET TO RETURN

Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck is slated to make a comeback next week from a 7-months-old ligament injury he sustained at the Etihad Stadium in May this year.

The former Manchester United man was billed to fully heal next month but seems to have had a sped up healing process.

As his return buffers Arsene Wenger’s options going forward, the coach says there is need for the 26-year-old to take all the time he needs, stressing that Danny has a lot of catching up to do as regards match fitness.

“Danny Welbeck is one week away from completing normal training. To be back in the squad, that will take some time because he wasn’t played for a long long time.”

As the England international resumes training next week, it won’t be of any harm to ask Santa Claus for a favour as regards injuries. Prior to this latest setback, he had actually been on to a forced vacation to the treatment table for 10 months before making a return to football in February this year. Continue reading

ARSENAL FINALLY AGREE FEE FOR MUSTAFI

English Premier League side Arsenal FC have finally agreed transfer fee with Spanish side Valencia in order to land talented German defender Shkodran Mustafi.

The summer long term target for Arsenal is likely to complete the move before the August transfer deadline ends on the last of this month, Sky Sports reports.

The Gunners are in a major injury crisis this summer, and it is already threatening their title hopes this term. They have been on the chase to land the 2014 World Cup winner, and Euro 2016 participant for Germany all summer. The deal has been delayed for several reasons, but largely due to a stall in negotiation as both parties couldn’t agree on the transfer fee. Sky Sports announced that the player in question agreed to move to the London-based outfit, yet the price remained a hindrance.

Mustafi used to be with Premier League side Everton as a youngster, before his exit to play for Sampdoria, then Valencia. The 24-year old could make a return to England with reports claiming this would cost Arsenal about £35 million.

Arsenal Looks Elsewhere For Vardy’s Replacement

There is fresh news coming in about Jami Vardy and Arsenal. While there were rumors that Jamie would be looked at by Arsenal, there has been another interesting development.

The player decides not to accept the offer made by Arsenal. Indeed, Wenger was making a pitch for Jamie, stretching the resources of his team. This move of Wenger was compared to that of Sir Alex Ferguson, who put in a lot at stake when he took up van Persie. That had not worked well for the Gunners and many suspected that a similar fate might be in for Wenger. However, things have taken a different turn this time. Vardy himself has showcased his reservations to joining Arsenal, especially under the managership of Arsene Wenger.

ARSENAL MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO LAND BIG STAR PLAYERS THIS SUMMER

English premier League side, Arsenal FC might not be able to land any star player this summer, based on various reports making the rounds.

Supporters  of the London club were given hope that they could spend heavily in July of last year, when director Lord Harris claimed the club had the funds to sign “anyone but Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi”.

However Lockyer, who is “no football fan myself”, warns fans that their aspirations may simply be out of touch with the realities of Arsenal’s balance sheet.

He told Standard Sport:

“What we have with Arsenal is a number of expectation gaps.

“First and foremost that is between what the fans expect from the club and what the club could comfortably spend.

“But also another gap between what the club could spend and what they likely would spend, which I expect to be short of the £54.1m.

“This is not a club that is being run for short-term success. Arsenal are showing that they want to be a team that is in the Premier League in five, 10, 15 years’ time.”

Lockyer believes selling players may be the most logical approach to fund any investment though there’s the alternative of overdraft facilities.

Wenger has long come under criticism for his hesitance over spending similar sums to his Premier League competitors. Whilst Manchester City lavished £152m on the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Otamendi Arsenal were the only club in Europe’s top five divisions. The report, however, offers a more generous assessment of Wenger’s achievements over 19 years at the helm when Lockyer writes:

“Since Wenger was appointed in 1996, Arsenal has been transformed from reliance on gate receipts to diverse income streams. Arsenal has rapidly grown broadcasting, commercial and retail revenues. Continue reading

PETR CECH RETURNS AGAINST WEST HAM

Arsenal first choice goal keeper, Petr Cech returns to first team action after missing out for about a month now. The 33-year old goal stopper returned to full training last week after recovering from the calf injury he picked up few minutes to the end of the disappointing game against Swansea on March 2nd.

In the game against Watford, last week, he could have played but Head Coach of the EPL team, Arsene Wenger decided not to risk it. David Ospina had been a capable replacement as he kept a clean sheet during the game; Arsenal went on to demolish Watford by four goals to nothing.

For this encounter at Upton Park against The Hammers, Wenger is eager to let Petr Cech play again.

Arsene Wenger has criticized for several years now regarding his limited options when injuries creep up on the team, especially as they are always involved in several tournaments. He signed David Ospina in 2014. The Colombian has been a decent relief for Petr Cech since. The 27 year-old goal keeper impressed during the World cup games in Brazil before eventually moving to the Emirates. He moved from Columbian club, Atletico Nacional after spending six years there, for an undisclosed fee. Continue reading

Hamza Hamzaoğlu is not worried about Galatasaray’s current form

Hamza Hamzaoğlu is the manager of Galatasary and even though his squad has failed to win a single match from any of their 3 opening matches of the season, the Turkish coach is certain that his team will be able to bounce back and defend their league title.

Galatasaray are the current champions of the Turkish Super Lig after being able to clinch the previous season and they now have the task of defending their piece of silverware but the start of the 2015-16 season has seen Galatasaray drawing twice and losing once from their 3 initial matches.

The 45 year old manager wants to keep his players and the fans of the club assured that this early struggle in the season is not something that should keep them worried as it’s only a temporary bump in the road.
